EN: Becoming a mom has all sorts of perks. You get priority seating on public transportation. You get to go the park, swing on swings, ride the slide and be a bit of a kid with your little one. You can wear sneakers and throw your hair in a bun. You acquire a stroller, which has this awesome space on the bottom for carrying a million things you might possibly need. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, there is always a natural explanation to why you ate a whole cake. If you have accidentally drop the TV remote for the 15th time and it breaks, you can always say the baby did it. And if dinner isn't ready when the husband gets home, well, it's because you are busy with the child!

But one thing I sincerely appreciate is the bond you grow with other women. We've all been there, done that; we understand each other; we know how it is and that it can be tough. I've made new friends and got to know old friends better because of it. Whenever I needed help or advice I can always find a "veteran mom" to give me both.

I met catty girls in high school and knew so many competitive women in the work force and in college, but women helping each other out is new to me and it is truly a beautiful thing. Motherhood really brings out the best in us ladies and I love how it brings us closer. Whenever I pass another mom with a stroller on the street I always give her a smile and most of the times, she smiles back. I'd like to believe that that little bond makes both of our days better, even if just for a second.

RU: Быть мамой - классно. Тебе уступают место в транспорте. Ты можешь ходить на площадку, кататься на качелях и горках и дурачится со своим малышем. Можно носить кроссовки и завязывать хвостик. У тебя есть коляска, в которую можно сложить миллион полезных вещей "на всякий случай". Когда ты в положении или кормишь, то не нужно объяснять, почему ты сожрала весь торт. Если ты что-то случайно уронила, можно свалить на малыша. И если ужин не приготовлен, то это потому что у тебя руки заняты весь день с ребенком!

Но что мне нравится больше всего, так это то, как меняется твое отношение к другим женщинам. Мы - мамы! Мы знаем каково это, мы понимаем что это такое - жизнь без сна, плачущие дети, беременность, роды, несоизмеримое счастье. Мы понимаем друг друга, и становимся немножко добрее.

За этот год, я подружилась с таким количеством девчонок и узнала старых друзей получше. Мы стали еще немного ближе друг другу. Раньше, в школе, в институте, на работе, я такого не испытывала и с недоверием относилась к женской дружбе. Всегда что-то мешало - мальчики, карьерный рост, зависть. А теперь у нас есть что-то, что плотно объединяет нас - материнство. Когда я прохожу мимо мамочки с коляской на улице, всегда улыбаюсь и, почти всегда, мне улыбаются в ответ. Хочется верить что это поднимает настроение нам обеим, хотя бы на пару минут.
